The swan neck detachable is by far the best choice if you would like to see virtually no sign you have had a towbar fitted. In many cases the swan neck detatchable is completly invisible once removed.
This type also eliminates any chance of interfering with reverse sensors.

Often referred to as after market wiring this style is a simple lighting set up.
This type would piggy back the existing lights at the rear of you vehicle and bypass the body control module.

Dedicated vehicle specific wiring
Sometimes referred to as either vehicle specific or dedicated electrics this set up is the more expensive option.
The dedicated wiring is designed to work with the vehicles brain rather than bypass it.
This way of wiring often needs a software update after it has been fitted, this takes only a few minutes and is fully included.
Certain vehicles come equipped with various features like towing stability which would be activated during the software update.
